Sushi Mexican fusion. Can they do that??

Turns out they can and it’s delish! Last week us media types were treated to a sampling of what the new Circus Circus restaurant duo El Jefe’s Cantina and Kanpai Sushi have to offer. Locals will recall the location as the old Art Gecko’s and Kokopelli’s. At first I was hesitant or just didn’t understand. Is it sushi? Is it Mexican? Will there be sashimi in my queso?? Then I experienced it and now I understand. (such is life) It took only a minute to adjust my palette from the appetizer of one of the best guacamole dips I’ve ever had to enjoying the plate of ceviche and sushi rolls that followed. Definitely a place with something for everyone. Sit at the large family style tables or stay at the sushi bar. We indulged in a never ending flow of foods like, calamari, wild mushroom tacos, and raw oysters on the half shell, just to name a handful. The food was great but the staff was wonderful. Lovely and entertaining with tails and maracas and traveling bottles of tequila! Elijah and Will kept the party going and explained that’s exactly what happens there at night. Yes, the tables clear away the d.j. booth lights up and the dance party begins. Looking for something fun, different, and delicious? Check out El Jefe’s and Kanpai in the Circus Circus downtown. Similar concept as before but totally revamped.

p.s Dont forget the giant green smoking cocktail in a fishbowl with a Wonka size lollipop and straws for you and 6 friends!
